I have many fond memories of Ron, from spending time in his company at Selhurst Park, family and cup final barbecues at Graham and Sandra's to the wonderful days with Holmeside Saints. Ron was always somebody who gave everything 100% when he ran the football team he was not only manager but kit man, taxi driver and he even qualified as a referee, without him it would all have collapsed. When he retired he pursued a love of jazz and in true Ron style he ended up playing in a band and then went on to form his own big band. My best memories however are of the many barbecues, i always had long conversations with Ron, he was well travelled and was great company, he was also genuinely interested in how the family was and this meant so much. He lived a very full and rich life but will be sadly missed. Sleep well Ron it was an honour to have known you.
